Some sort of Rotation Diet might be in order. Not to eat the offending food to much at one time. This may be the answer. But I am so sensitive to so many foods. Maybe a system of eating the same foods every four days. This may contribute to a healthier system overall.
I am living with depression. I was implanted with VNS therapy on March 11,2008 and am blogging what experiences I have, not only with the device but with depression itself, and just what depression is. This is to let people know depression is not just the "blues". True depression is a disease, not a mood problem. One can manage the depression with various treatments and I invite you to learn with me as I go through it.

Goat Cheese
Dr. Asa said that goat cheese would re-balance my intestines, being a fermented food. But I may not be able to eat it either, time will tell. I tend to eat the 4 oz package all in one setting, so it maybe that I could eat it over three days with no problem. Hemorrhoids come back with this food, I think.
( I have since found out I am allergic to goat cheese, and sensitive to fermented foods-editor)

Satsuma, that great family favorite
We have a high sugar fruit that has grown in my families yards for years. High in sugar and low in seeds, easy to peel. So great! Right!? Not for me apparently. I ate it with chocolate. A lot over three days, and, your guessed it, deep depression, popping ears, loss of balance, and all the other symptoms. So the yeast beast roared again. But this time a runny nose came in as well. A new symptom.
(Turns out I am allergic to citrus, chocolate.-editor)

Coconut Oils
Coconut oil has too much sugar in it. That is what I think, I have adverse reaction to it. Leave it alone for a while and I feel better.
(It is a oil from a nut source, I am allergic to all tree nuts and peanuts-editor)

Nuts to Nuts and Seeds
I think that I am allergic to nuts, but I am gathering them all in under one heading. Peanuts, definately, but to a lesser degree others as well. I get itchy eyes, sluggishness. Sunflower seeds maybe on the lesser degree as well.
All these foods to be allergic to, ah, what a life. But a better one than under constant pharm. drugs and constant depression, and the VNS implant. The implant is still doing the job. It has about three years to go until the battery will need to be replaced. I started saving for it this month. Automatic draft to savings.

Thoughts on Projection
From and email to Mary:
I had a strange day yesterday as well. I had been drinking Almond milk the Silk brand. Now It was unsweetened, but not organic. After about 10 days I determined it was causing breast tenderness. I cut out other new foods I had tried. Mung beans were cut out. The soreness continued. So I cut out this new, to me, brand of Almond milk yesterday morning and I feel better today.

On the art front, I discussed this with a buddy at work. He thinks I should try a different tact/one of entry into shows with juries for the sculptures. I don't know about that, but am thinking. I need to do something and will, eventually. My prime goal is to get closer to God, and get my health, which I have never had, having be afflicted since childhood with the depression. Next priority is to care for my Mom. One day at a time.
On the email thing it sounds like you need to get into your email program and check just what is going on with it. See what you can find in your applications file as to the mail program, open and see what you can find, or go to help in the same area. Barring that, Microsoft may have a help section on its site. I have a Mac and so can not give you direct commands on how to fix it. It is the second time you have had problems of late, it might be ready to crash, and soon, so check it soon.
Also. Another thing, you maybe doing a thing called projecting. It is when you are seeing another's facial expressions respond to your words in what you determine is a negative way. It used to bother me as well. Then I decided that 1) that their thoughts, no matter what they are, are their's and not mine, no matter what thoughts they are thinking . They have to suffer them, I will not let what I think that they are thinking ruin my day. 2) Then I just smile and picture my heart opening to them and state to myself, you will not close me to loving you. I have that right to love you in the way that I smile at you. I will guard my future actions by being aware of what you may think, but I will not waste my thought time (time I spend with my own thoughts, and with God) on what I think that you may have been thinking. 3) Then I go on my way. For: The Lord will perfect that which concerns me.
There was a whole book written on projection. I can't come up with the title right now, but read it in the 90's.

Thought Bubbles: Psalms 138:8
Jan 18th 2011 was the day that I wrote this on my ITouch:
The Lord will perfect all that concerns me. It is proclaiming the Word of the Lord out of my mouth audibly, calling for a thing- Perfection, to manifest. It is what I read out of a booklet of Charles Capps- The Creative Power of God to Heal. I change the verb to makes to bring it in to the present tense.
The Lord makes perfect Ed's heart. This is for my brother in law's heart and health. It can be used in that manor as well. So proclaim your health, for the power of the Lord is awesome.
Thought Bubbles: Is God less close at times?
When the depression is here, no matter what caused it, I feel less spiritual. That God is less close . He is still here, it is just me. I have been asking God, in the moment that it happens to note it and fix it. To strengthen me as it happens.
I will monitor the food intake more severely to make sure that additives (ie MSG in any form) that are in the food will not cause more depression. I want to be closer to God, because I want a total healing, spiritual, and mental, physical.
Dextrose is Maltodextrin?!
Dextrose in anything could be causing problem after about 3 days.
I have been using a product called Stevia in the Raw for about a year. It was the cheapest Stevia product that I could afford. I thought Maltodextrin was an additive and in that it was bad for me, but it tasted soooo good. But then the other day it happened. I was not eating anything else that would cause a problem and then in my brain a switch went on. Malto"dex"trin is from "dex"trose. Duh. Well. I stopped taking it, because I was drinking it constantly in the water I was drinking all day long. Duh.
Now I am changed to another product that has more sodium that I want to deal with. But one thing at a time.

A little confession
Posted: 20 Jan 2011 06:11 AM PST
I sit across the table from my dear friend. She smiles and asks me, "How is everything going?"
I squirm in my seat, fiddle with my napkin, mutter some words about things being good. Then I pause, consider, decide to take the plunge.
"Well, really, I feel a bit burned out."
I look up and wait for shock or disappointment.
Instead she says simply, "I'm so glad you told me."
She offers grace and expresses that she understands. I'm so relieved I feel like crying and laughing all at the same time. It turns out I'm not the only one who has ever felt this way.
I've been reading Leading on Empty by Wayne Cordeiro. He shares how our bodies have a supply of Serotonin (the brain chemicals God gave us that help us feel good). When we're in chronic stress that supply gets depleted. So we go to the back-up system, which is adrenaline. But like a spare tire, we can't go on adrenaline forever. Eventually our bodies and emotions insist we pull over and refuel. Friends, that's where I am right now.
I know many of you are new here. So let me share some back story: My husband and I have been going through infertility for over six years. On top of that, life has been a busy whirlwind for a long time.
I also have patterns of pushing too hard, being afraid of disappointing people, not relaxing enough, and the list goes on. A few months ago, God began whispering to my heart, "Holley, it's time to rest. It's time to slow down." It's taken awhile but I'm finally getting the message.
Why am I sharing this with you?
Maybe I'm hoping some of you will understand too (have you ever felt this way?).
And because I need your prayers.
At the end of the conversation with my friend I said, "You know, this isn't much fun but it's also a really beautiful invitation too. Because it seems what God wants is simply for me to be with Him--to stop all the striving.
After all, Jesus said, 'Come to Me, you who are weary and burdened.' He didn't say, 'Go do this or that."
So I'm coming--first to Jesus so that He can renew, restore, and lead me to JOY.
And then I'm coming to you too--asking for your grace, for you to walk with me in this part of the journey just as you have through so many others.
{confession: this was a really scary post to write.}
So thank you for reading it, for being here.
Thank you with all my heart.
This is Janet now:
I feel like I am on burnout now. I will recover, slow but sure.
My life on the interior, the thought processes that occur are severely affected by the consumption of sugar, caffeine, many other substances. Traces of which are in most all packaged foods. So, most foods are consumed after I prepare them here at home.
When I get a craving for chocolate, and nuts of any kind, I must be most strong for at first they don't seem to affect me, but then, after about three days ,wham, and I go into depression. Any outside stressors that come my way are dealt with a brain that is crippled by the wrong foods. I used to sink deeper into depression when this occurred and it would take me longer to come out of it. In the mean time art and other projects and responsibilities get abandoned, my personality changes. I become an introvert. Thought processes are slowed. This is what I battle. Along with all the things that go with life.
Today I am on a fast. Liquids, and smoothies out of Vega, spinach and almond milk, to try to clear out the poisons.

The Dangers of MSG in My Food
My friend Mary suggested that a preservative in some ham I ate could be giving me a problem. I thought about it and agreed. Then I went out to dinner with my family. To Applebee's on a gift card given to me for Christmas.
I looked over the menu and ordered. Salmon and broccoli. The broccoli had a sauce, not visible (not cheese, or tomato base). I suffered for 4 days. More in next post.
(I have since found out that I am allergic to Salmon and MSG,editor)

Thought Bubbles: Conversations with God
I have been reading Heart to Heart with Holly and her email is holleygerth@gmail.com. It has had a passage from Psalms in it #138:8 "The Lord will perfect that which concerns me."
.Subscribe by Email to Heart to Heart with Holly
What I think is perfect and what God thinks may be very different, but if I realize that God knows far more about me and my condition than I do, then He knows best.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me. Psalm 138:8 NKJV
Now also I have been getting the message that I have to have patience in everything and turn everything, I mean everything, over to God. Finances, relationships, business, health, and everything else, whatever it is over to Him. That He is the Stabilizer of everything. Once started and practiced it becomes easier, and easier. He has become the filling in my body. I felt like a empty shell before. Now I feel a constant spiritual thirst and when I drink of the things that God provides in the information surrounding me (songs on Christian Radio, the Bible, conversations with friends and passers by, even the beauty of nature) I feel strengthen. How do the people who choose not to listen get by? Don't they feel empty? Or is it that they don't really know the difference/and therefore don't understand, or care? There is a great booklet by Charles Capps entitled God's Creative Power for Healing published by Harrison House.
It explains why the affirmations so common in the 80's worked, at least partially. He doesn't approach it in this manner, but me, coming from a more secular background of New Ager I can understand in this manner. If you repeat a good, positive thought enough, It Will Manifest.
But with God's Word, you know that to repeat it and believe it even before it manifests, well it has the power of Almighty God behind it, not just your own repeating it. Again God tenderly shows me the way.

Even small amounts of foods on the "banned" list cause brain problems
I have been watching for smaller and smaller reactions to foods that I suspect that cause brain fog.
the fog is characterized by and includes physical symptoms of:
Anxiety,
Depression,
loss of short term memory,
inability to add numbers,
inability to type in a co-ordinated fashion,
left leg dragging and un co-ordinated ( when really bad I fear driving),
lymph glands hurting,
eyes burning and blurry,
private parts burning,
ears popping as if pressure is building up, but there is no pressure
itching on different parts of body, usually back and abdomen

K-Dophilus or Jarro Dophilus no refrigeration probiotics
I got the information from Erica Okamoto at work that this type of probiotic does not need refrigeration, and therefore is good for travel. And for taking to work. Here is the specs on it:
Jarro Dophilus Ranked #1 in Sales
Jarrow Formulas, the global wellness and nutritional product company, announced that its Jarro-Dophilus Enhanced Probiotic System (EPS) products ranked Number 1 in sales in the natural channel for 52 weeks ending February 20, 2010, according to SPINs, a market research and consulting firm for the Natural Products Industry. Jarrow Formulas was the first natural products company to sell a clinically-documented probiotic.
The strains of bacteria that are used in Jarrows probiotics have been previously tested in multiple pre-clinical and clinical studies, and their benefits in human health have been well documented. Jarro-Dophilus EPS is formulated with 8 different species of friendly bacteria from 4 genera: Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Pediococcus, and Lactococcus. At the time of manufacture, each capsule contains approximately 5 billion probiotic bacteria.
Jarro-Dophilus EPS is especially helpful to people who do not eat a balanced diet, consume little fiber or fermented foods, take antibiotics, are under stress, travel, or simply want to strengthen their intestinal immune system. Jarro-Dophilus EPS is the best probiotic to promote healthy intestinal microflora and support immune function.
Additionally, Jarro-Dophilus EPS contains the well-documented and clinically proven Bifidobacterium longum (Morinaga strain) BB536 from Japan.
